Community Living Camp - 2018
FORWARD - A Step Ahead
Theme: Empowerment Through Education
As an extension service to the community, our college organised a Community Living Camp in our college from 23-25 May, 2018 as the part of two year B Ed curriculum. Sessions including awareness programmes, classes lead by eminent personalities in the respective fields, venues for games and cultural activities are included aiming the all round development of prospective teachers.
23.05.2018 Wednesday
Reporting and registration started at 8:00am on 23rd of May 2018. Flag was hoisted by our Principal Sri. G. Roy Sir marking the beginning of the camp. The camp was officially inaugurated by Sri. K.M. Ratheesh Kumar ( Hon. Asst. Sessions Judge, Kottarakara). The Theme Presentation session was handled by Sri. James D ( Dept. of Sanskrit, CVKM HSS, East Kallada).
Session 2 was handled by Sri. Biju V. Panthaplavu ( Special Trained Faculty, Dept. of Higher Secondary Education). It was an interactive one based on how Relationships effect empowerment through education.
Next attraction of the day was Aerobics lead by Jincy John and Kalpaka Shaji. All of us totally enjoyed the session and it was refreshing.
In the evening, a group from ARIVU Kalasamithi performed malayalam folk songs which was really enjoyable.
With dinner and Film show ,the day came to an end.
24.05.2018 Thursday
The second day started with Yoga under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Dr. Jacob John ( Director, Chaithanya Healing Centre, Kottarakara ) followed by Campus beautification.After breakfast and prayer Sri. Brahmanayakam Mahadevan ( Trainer and Founder, Sahajeevan Special School, Kaniyapuram ) lead an activity based session on the impact of Interactive Skills in Empowerment.

Following the lunch break, a class on Empowerment through Cultural forms was conducted. The session was based on "Thullal thrayam" in which 3 types of thullals : Seethankan, Parayan and Ottanthullals were lectured and demonstrated. The lecture was taken by Nadanaratna Sri. Thamarakudi Karunakaran master who is proficient in Thullal. All of us enjoyed the performance.
Students presented the evening newspapers in groups.
The evening session started with Prayer and the session on Media impact on Empowerment was lead by Sri. George Pulikkan ( Asianet News). This session too was interactive and effective for us as teacher trainees.
Cultural programmes and games were organised in which students participated whole heartedly.
The students played a great role by providing their help in preparation of food too.
25.05.2018 Friday
The third day of the camp began with Zumba performance lead by Jincy John and Kalpaka Shaji. It was such a mind blowing experience to all of us as we were all doing this act for the first time. News papers were displayed on group basis.
Later we were taken to Meenpidi para, a nearby place of scenic beauty for outing. We spend about an hour there.

The final session of the camp was lead by Sri. Robin Thomas on Youth Challenges and Social Dedication. It was both serious and fun filled session. Sories andAction song made the hours live.
Then we had a review session on the whole camp. Students shared their experiences both positive and negative. teachers too shared their experience.
The Valedictory function started with the presentation of camp memories. Adv. Aisha Potti, MLA inaugurated the function. The service activity initiated in the camp of Donating note books to the needy students was inaugurated by Smt. Syamalamma B. (Chairperson, Kottarakara Municipality). Felcitation was given by Sri. Suresh N.( Councillor, Kottarakara Municipality).
Helan Raj was selected as the Best Camp Delegate.

The 3 days Community Living Camp ended officially with the flag off by Sri. G. Roy Sir and Myself(Camp Leader) followed by our National Anthem.
