Teaching Practice - Phase I - Week 6

Teaching Practice ( 23-27 July)

                                                                      The week marked the beginning of Mid Term Examinations for classes from 5th to 9th scheduled in the afternoons everyday. Most of  my classes in 9 A was in afternoon session. So I could take only three classes this week.

                                               We  assisted the teachers in-charge of the examination cell in arranging the question papers and answer sheets. 

                                                In this week, we were visited by our Option charge Jisha teacher and General charge Nimmy teacher for our class evaluation. Positive comments were received from them.

                                               Also 26th July was remembered as 'The Kargil Victory Day'. A speech on the importance of the day was given by a 8th standard student after the morning prayer.

Dresses and other materials were collected for the disaster affected people due to heavy rain in Kerala. Hopefully waiting for the following week.                         

Teaching Practice - Phase I - Week 5

Teaching Practice - Week 5 ( 17 - 21 July)

                                                                                         As it was declared as a rain holiday on Monday, 16 July 2018, the academic week started from Tuesday.

                                                            On Tuesday, as the rain was persisting, the strength was comparatively less. Joined for Midday meal serving. During 6th period, started the third chapter 'Pairs of Equations'. Both activity cards and ICT was employed.

                                                            On Wednesday, we wore uniform saree. Had 5th period in std 9A; dealt with more problems from exercises.

                                                                On Thursday, Jisha teacher came to our school for evaluating us. Took 3rd period for Jisha teachers evaluation; took 'Two Equations' there. teacher commented that Introduction checking the pre requisite was good. Content was explained clearly, but student participation could have been improved. Altogether, it was a good attempt.

                                                                  On Friday, I competed my 20th lesson template. Moral science class was there today. Went for serving noon meal today. Got 7th period as substitution in 9A; did exercise problems.

                                                                   Saturday was a working day as compensation for rain holiday with Monday's timetable. Many teachers were on leave today. Had 4th period in 9A. Had substitutions in 7F, 8C and 9I. Interactions with pupil was found increased. Engaged them with simple games too. 

Teaching Practice - Phase I - Week 4

Teaching Practice - Phase I- Week 4 ( 9 - 13 July )

                                                                                         The fourth week of the teaching practice began with a rearrangement in the time schedule of the School. The school was scheduled to start from 9:30 am and end at 3:30 pm. I began with Operations in fraction this week in std IX. Addition and subtraction were covered on the first day. 

                                                            Our school was declared fully hi- tech on a function held on Tuesday at the School.The Catholicos of Syro Malankara Catholic Church, Cardinal Baselius Cleemis and the District Police chief B. Ashok were the main guests of the day. 

                                                                                   Our optional teacher Smt. Jisha N.R. gave a surprise visit to our school for our evaluation. I took Multiplication of fractions using ICT. Though my classroom management and use of technology was good, teacher suggested that the content could have been fit up to 45 minutes.

                                                       On Wednesday, the padayathra of Mar Ivanios pilgrims reached our school. Lunch was arranged for them there. Also it was our fellow teacher Helan's birthday the same day. We helped in directing the pilgrims.

                                                                                     I completed the chapter Fractions by this week. Also Smt. Deepthi, pursuing M. Ed came to our school for data collection as the part of her project work.

We successfully completed the 4th week.                                                          

Teaching Practice - Phase I - Week 3

Teaching Practice - Week 3 (2 - 7 July )

                                                          Third week of teaching practice started from 2 July 2018. 

            

                                                          The death of Abhimanyu at the Maharajas College was a fuming issue this week. On Monday, the school dispersed due to the Strike called by ABVP. Tuesday was holiday due to St. Thomas Day. Wednesday again was another strike called by KSU. So classes were only held on Thursday and Friday. Compensatory class for St. Thomas Day leave on Thursday was scheduled to be held on Saturday. Due to frequent leaves, the strength was comparatively less this week.

                                                          

                                                             I could complete 2 lesson templates this week. The concept of large and small fractions was taught. 

                                                          Due to the heavy traffic at peak hours, the timing of the school was planned to be rearranged. It was re-scheduled from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.
